Reflection

Final Project Reflection For my final project, I chose to incorporate hyperlinks and pictures to help spice up the look and set up of my blog post. I wanted it to be something that when people read, their eyes were drawn to specific spots or words on my page. I intentionally did an Instagram live stream so that I had a video piece associated with my project. It assisted in providing another link to along with others I already had.  By do this,  in my opinion, I utilize another tool to create interactiveness on my blog. The research for this project was not so much information based because I was promoting my own brand, but more so looking up how to set up a live stream and end it appropriately. I didn't have to do much research on content because I was the sole creator of the content I was promoting; therefore, it was simple to complete thoroughly.   The writing part was hard in my opinion. I had never done anything like this before so when asked to come up with a bl...

Final Project- Fitness page

Fitness? EW right?  check out my live stream! https://www.instagram.com/tv/CB8orjWJsqm/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link In my Instagram live stream, I discussed topics like why I chose to start my fitness page, who my audience is, and what content I put on my page. In my podcast , I spoke about those things as well as what my goals were. For the readers who would like insight on how I live a simple healthy lifestyle, check out my Instagram fitness page ! I go over what workouts I do, what I eat, and what vitamins & supplements I take. If any of that interests you, go check it out! For starters, I created my fitness account to hold myself accountable to live a healthy life I wanted to live. The second reason was that I kept getting questions like "where do you get your ideas from" or "do you have an account that we can follow?" I decided that instead of answering back with no, I would just refer them to my fitness page!  I don't post something and then log off ri...

Academic Study Translation

Image
For my Academic Study Translation assignment,    I decided to discuss generational differences in workplace communication: Perspectives of Female Leaders and their Direct Reports in Malaysia. I decided to divulge into the topic of women in the workplace, and how they communicate to help educate and better prepare myself for my future career. My main focal point for this assignment is to really key in on how different generations and genders (women) have to alter the way they effectively communicate and portray themselves in the workplace. In order to fully wrap my head around this case study, I chose to also gain access to other academic sources , to further provide evidence and information for my blog readers as well. As technology advances and generations expand their horizon of tools to help advance their careers, it is still important to understand where it all started and how we (women) have got to where we are today.  Women use to not have God-given rights like men ...

Press Release

Ch. 9 Exercise 3 COVID-19 has forced student-athletes to not participate in  winter and spring c hampionships. The NCAA announced earlier this spring that no sport was to be continued at any university due to the devastating rise in the spread of coronavirus. It has taken a toll on university sports all around the country as well as their beloved sports fans. The CNU Woman's Volleyball Team was greatly affected by this sudden change just like all student-athletes were. Just like student-athletes all over the country, our woman's volleyball team was at a loss of words when news spread about not having springs sports. The president of Christopher Newport University, Paul Trible, spoke on behalf of the faculty via live stream about how students at CNU would, in fact, return to school in the fall of 2020. The news was what student-athletes had been waiting for, hope. The hope that they would play another year of the sport they love and hope that everything was on its way back to n...

Recycling in a New Light

Image
Ch. 8 Exercise 1 In April, the Prince William County Department of Public Works released that they were going to alter the way they recycled effective immediately. According to their website , contamination standards and the closing of the Asian export markets for certain plastics resulted in an increase in processing costs. Therefore, The Prince William County Solid Waste Division revised its requirements for the materials that are able to be recycled.  Recycling is vital to both our natural environment and us. However, not everyone recycles, why? I believe most people choose not to go the extra mile to save our planet because they want the 'fast and easy' way out. It all started with fast food restaurant chains and has led to daily habits for some. Many people are what iI like to call social media advocates for recycling, but not real-life advocates. They post and preach about how our earth will diminish soon because of the way we treat it but that's as far as they choose...

New Editor and Chief

Ch. 4 Exercise 3 A website I visit more often than most is the NCAA Woman's Volleyball page . Since I was an athlete for the majority of my life, it was a hard reality when I decided not to play in college. I chose to keep up with the volleyball world by staying up to date with following Instagram accounts and checking on the NCAA website often. The sport is dear to my heart but as the 'new chief editor' for the NCAA Woman's Volleyball page, I chose to look at the website from a critic's viewpoint and not a consumer.  First, let's start with the way the NCAA editors alter their writing for their various sports pages.  The website is an informative news outlet for all collegiate level sports and it is written in an unbiased tone that educated its' readers.   The 'voice' is generalized for all audiences, and not written in a preference tone. It's open for any individual, with no restrictions on accessing the information on updates or stats on a tea...

"Before & After" article

Ch. 3 Exercise 4 History.com is a website that provides an academic discipline of the past. HISTORY  is also a TV series that has now been adapted to different forms of presentations.  It offers far more than news and notes on events, but also videos.  It presents the study of history, which essentially means there are stories to read as well. "This Day in History" is a cool bonus to History.com because it  works with a wide range of writers and editors to create accurate and informative content that has happened. Ideally, one can access the website, select any date from any year, and find content on it that is historically accurate. I chose HISTORY  because I found sometimes the site can get wordy. It helps to create a formatted list in my opinion and THEN allow readers to select of which story they seem most interested in. Currently, if you go to their  This Day in History  it will pop up with an event that occurred on the "today's date." What I sugg...

All about Pinterest

Ch 3. Exercise 2 What is Pinterest?     " Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more."  It is a search engine where users can view, post, and share their own "interest" to things. Instead of "retweeting" or "posting," Pinterest allows one to 'pin' their interest, essentially creating their company's name. Creative right? Like most websites or apps, Pinterest has a homepage, made up of people or boards you follow, a personal profile, and of course a search bar.  The content available for viewers is up to the user themselves. One can find anything ranging from at-home workouts to what to do when your dog throws up. It covers just about anything.  Statistics Total number of Monthly Active Pinterest Users      335 million+  Number of Pinterest Users from the U.S.    88 million Number of Pinterest Users around the World    50%+  Total number of Pinter...
